Rather than furnish this house, the task was to work with the owner and architect/builder to completely redesign the home’s interior space and surface finishes. The challenge was to make the house as energy efficient as possible while maximizing every inch of usable space without increasing the building’s footprint.
The living room was opened up to the view, the kitchen relocated and a new living space floor was created where a crawlspace had once been. One bedroom, two bathrooms, two fireplaces, and a small wet bar / laundry area were added in addition to increasing the amount of usable living and storage space. The objective of every decision regarding trim detail, flooring, hardware and tile was to maintain the cottage look and feel of this wonderful old lakefront summer home. |
